 Happy 40th birthday to the Graveley Hill Interchange.  That’s what we would be saying today if the powers that be had won the battle of the brands for this famous road system.  Of course we all know it as Spaghetti Junction and it needs no introduction – the picture is instantly recognisable thanks to the name the people of Birmigham chose to adopt.  Spaghetti Junction was so called when a Birmingham Mail journalist remarked on the road system’s resemblance to a bowl of the nation’s favourite pasta – people loved the comparison and an iconic British landmark was born – rather than an eyesore.
