To say “I have had work experience at Breaking Blue” doesn’t really do justice to what the company can do for you during your work experience week(s) and what you can do for them. To me, before Breaking Blue, work experience was a time to sit in a job, be surrounded by every-day chores and tasks that were average to a working day. I thought that was a regular experience, however, Breaking Blue have endeavoured to do so much more.
In these past two weeks, I have not just learnt the inner workings of the company and done tasks for those parts, but I have also been taught about market research and company organisation. Rather than the work only allowing me to experience office life, I come away with skills that I can apply to all sorts of aspects of my life such as organisational and social, so for that I doubly thank the company.
In terms of my actual work here, I hope it makes the difference going forward and it helps the company progress, if only by a small amount. The tasks I have been given have never seemed out of the way, it always seems like I am placed at the forefront of any project, helping it move forward. That is what I really enjoy, the fact that my work can make a difference even if it is as small as reading over quantities of data to make sure they are just perfect. I can’t extend my thanks enough to Lorena and Adele for providing me with work and always being patient with any questions I might have had. I must also say thank you to Anna, Marta and Martin for providing me with feedback on my work and also giving me further opportunities within the company to interact with everyone and take part in a few out-of-office activities.
However, what I will probably take away most from this is that office work can be exciting. It can be hard being young and never experiencing the actual day-in-day-out work in an office. It can be made to look quite droning and laborious. Breaking Blue have broken apart that image for me. The myriad of fun office activities mixed with the kind working atmosphere and the constant changing of work means that I have never had a disinterest in my tasks or been out of place with the situations I was put in. So finally, I would like to say thank you to all and thank you to Chrissie specifically for giving me an education in market research and I wish her best in her later work.
